Authors, editors, and publishers may find the following sites useful, especially to look up a specific word in Spanish (Google Translate) or as vocabulary enrichment (Palabra del Día, Word of the Day).
A guide to name authorities is also included for librarians and others who use name authorities in databases.
My own guides to indexing in Spanish are included along with articles that may help you evaluate the presentation of an index you have created or commissioned.

Websites
Google Translate
Google Translate has become the go-to site for a word or phrase translated (from Spanish to English or vice versa). Usually it’s quicker than rummaging through a language dictionary. Good for the most updated term though occasionally a little sparse on rare or antiquated words, since it appears to rely on users to edit existing entries.
La Página del Idioma Español
elcastellano.org offers the etymology of common and somewhat-less-than-common Spanish words. A great way to enrich one’s vocabulary and deepen your appreciation of the language of Cervantes.
La Palabra del Día, the Word of the Day in Spanish, is sent to subscribers around the world from Spain several times a week.
Name Authorities
The VIAF® (Virtual International Authority File) combines multiple name authority files into a single OCLC-hosted name authority service. The goal of the service is to lower the cost and increase the utility of library authority files by matching and linking widely-used authority files and making that information available on the Web.
What Indexers Wish Authors Knew
What indexers wished authors knew about indexing is given good coverage in Sylvia Coates’ free massive online open course “Indexing Books as a Career” – highly recommended.
